After that, at meetings with MARD and National Agro–Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD), VASEP kept petitioning these agencies to change the approach of the Circular 55 on controlling food and seafood safety in compliance with Food Safety Act, international standards with an aim to reducing input costs for enterprises.
However, until now, VASEP receives no feedback from MARD and NAFIQAD. In times of difficulties in pangasius production and exports, soaring input costs, lack of raw material, hiking food safety inspection fees imposing on exported products, enterprises are looking forward to receiving changes from competent authorities.
Total fees for inspection of a medium enterprise’s consignment exported to EU are increased by 35-42 percent. Cost for taking sample for inspection rises two-three fold compared to the previous regulation.
